Participation of the Director General of CAFRAD in the launch of the 2nd and 3rd editions of “Encyclopedia of deconstructed extremist discourse” organized by ICESCO and the Mohammedian League of Ulemas of the Kingdom of Morocco
CAFRAD, represented by the Director General Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI, attended on Friday, September 20th, 2024, the launch of the second and third volumes of the Encyclopedia on Deconstructing Extremist Discourse, at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Rabat.
The session started with verses recitals from the Holy Quran, followed by an opening speech by Ambassador Khalid Fathalrahman, Director of ICESCO Center for Civilizational Dialogue. Then, ICESCO Director General Dr. Salim M. AlMalik did a speech in which he highlighted the importance of the stability of people and civilizations in the fight against all forms of extremism.
Later, Dr. Ahmed Abbadi, Secretary General of the Rabita, also did a speech, recalling the importance of words and their interpretation, and that one of the main sources of extremism is the misinterpretation of words from the words of God Almighty.
Finally, a presentation of the content and main axes of the encyclopedias was made by Dr Mohammed Al-Mantar, Director of the Center for Quranic Studies of the Rabita,
The encyclopedia includes a collection of studies and research aimed at discouraging the harmful efforts of extremist discourse, in this case targeting the younger generation, and promoting the universal values of Islam in a discourse of tolerance, knowledge, and balance.
The three volumes of the encyclopedia focus on humanity, tolerance and intellectual dialogue among people, and can be found on the ICESCO website.
