MEMBERSHIP OF THE STATE OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA TO CAFRAD

Since June 02, 2022, the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD) has officially been part of the Pan-African Intergovernmental Organization, CAFRAD. As such, SOAD is entitled to sit in the same capacity as the other Member States, on all the statutory bodies of the institution, and will as well participate in the debates on the governance and development of CAFRAD.

The Chairperson of the Governing Board, Mrs. Ghita Mezzour, all the Member States, as well as the Director-General of CAFRAD, Prof. Stéphane Monney Mouandjo, are delighted with this decision of the Government of SOAD and will be happy to welcome this new State to its legitimate family.

CAFRAD takes note of the unanimous decision of the Heads of State and Government of the Member States of the African Union in 2003 to make the diaspora its 6th region. In line with the choice of the Heads of State and Government and by this timely membership, SOAD automatically integrates the Executive Committee of CAFRAD as the sole representative of this region by virtue of the principle of geographical representation in force within this body.

CAFRAD pays tribute to the joint efforts of the Prime Minister, Louis-Georges Tin, the Minister of Finance and International Development, Prof. Karim Errouaki and the Director-General of CAFRAD, for this important approach which constitutes a further step towards the strengthening and consolidation of the indissoluble bond among all the sons and daughters of the African Continent and those beyond the seas.
